What is a face lift?

A "facelift" procedure tightens the skin in the mid-face region (the cheeks and jawline) to create a lifted and more youthful appearance. Facelift is popular with both men and women who have experienced facial sagging and wrinkling. It is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is often combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures in San Ramon, including brow lift, eyelid surgery, and rhinoplasty.

Am I a good candidate for a face lift?

You may be a good candidate for a facelift procedure if you are unhappy with wrinkles and sagging skin on the lower half of your face. The ideal candidate for San Ramon face lift retains some degree of skin elasticity. Most facelift patients are men and women between the ages of 40 and 70.

Can I expect permanent results from my San Ramon face lift?

Results vary from person to person, but most facelift patients enjoy a smoothed and lifted facial appearance for at least 5 to 10 years. Keep in mind that while a facelift can take years off your appearance, it will not halt or reverse the aging process, so new wrinkles and drooping skin eventually will form. You can protect your results by using high-quality facial cleansers, maintaining a healthy weight and healthy diet, and remembering to wear proper sunscreen whenever outdoors. How long before I can return to work?

Depending on the type of work you do, you should be able to get back to your workplace in about 10 to 14 days after surgery. You may have some residual bruising and swelling, but most people feel comfortable enough about their appearance to get back to their job at this point, especially if they use makeup and style their hair to camouflage incision sites. You may need to recover longer if your job involves strenuous activities. Read more about facelift recovery.

Can I combine facelift with other facial rejuvenation procedures?

Absolutely. Many of Dr. McNemar's Tracy and San Ramon facelift patients choose other facial cosmetic surgery procedures like eyelid surgery, brow lift, and chemical peel. At your consultation, Dr. McNemar will examine your face closely and discuss whether you could benefit by combining facial rejuvenation surgeries. How long does a face lift procedure take?

Time in surgery often depends on the amount of surgical correction required and whether other procedures are being performed in addition to the facelift. Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Stockton, and other Northern California residents who choose McNemar Cosmetic Surgery can expect their procedure to take between 2 to 6 hours.

Will a face lift make me look unnatural?

In the hands of an inexperienced surgeon, facelift surgery can create a very unnatural or "pulled" look to the face. Dr. McNemar is a highly-trained board certified plastic surgeon who understands that in most cases subtle surgical correction yields the best results. When you view his photo gallery, you will see that his patients are able to achieve a naturally enhanced facial appearance.
