Brazilian Butt Lift

The sculpted curves of an hourglass figure are desired by many Bay Area women from Livermore, Pleasanton, and beyond and can be enhanced by a Brazilian butt lift at our Tracy, CA, practice. A Brazilian butt lift augments the buttocks without using synthetic implants. Instead, Dr. Thomas McNemar takes excess fat from another area of your body and carefully re-injects it into the buttocks to create long-lasting results that look and feel natural.

About Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery

A Brazilian butt lift is actually a 3-step procedure that starts with liposuction and includes fat transfer (also called fat grafting). The liposuction procedure involves inserting a thin tube, called a cannula, through small incisions and suctioning out fat. First, Dr. McNemar saturates the area with a saline solution that includes an anesthetic.

After Dr. McNemar removes the fat, it’s processed to separate healthy fat cells from impurities and excess fluid. He then re-injects the fat cells using a specialized cannula that is much smaller than those used during the liposuction procedure.

3 Steps of a Brazilian Butt Lift

  1. Liposuction: Dr. McNemar removes unwanted fat from one area of the body, such as the thighs, abdomen, or hips.
  2. Processing: The harvested fat cells are purified to remove fluid and any damaged fat cells, ensuring only healthy cells remain.
  3. Augmentation: Dr. McNemar injects the purified fat cells into the buttocks with tiny specialized cannulas, meticulously threading the fat beneath the skin to ensure natural-looking, enhanced contours.

You may be a good candidate for combining a Brazilian butt lift with other aesthetic procedures or as part of a Mommy Makeover that may include breast enhancement surgery.

Recovery

Each patient recovers at her own pace, but there are some general guidelines about what you can expect following your surgery. In most cases, patients return home on the day of the procedure. Remember that a Brazilian butt lift includes 2 separate surgical sites which each may heal at different rates. Patients wear special compression garments following the procedure to help keep pressure on the area where the liposuction was performed. Some mild swelling and bruising should be expected and may last for about a week.

We recommend taking up to 2 weeks off from work after a Brazilian butt lift, especially if your job involves sitting throughout most of the day. Patients should avoid sitting on hard chairs for weeks, but there are products such as inflatable cushions that are designed for use while recovering after buttock augmentation.

Plan to avoid strenuous exercise for at least 3 to 4 weeks after the surgery, but you should be up and moving around within a day to help your circulation, which aids in the healing process. Dr. McNemar provides detailed postop instructions that help speed up your recovery when closely followed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Brazilian butt lift the same as a buttocks lift?

No, they are completely different procedures with different aesthetic goals. A Brazilian butt lift is an option for augmentation without using an implant. Buttocks lift surgery is a procedure performed on patients with sagging skin — often after losing a significant amount of weight — that removes excess skin and doesn’t augment the buttocks. It’s similar to a breast lift without augmentation.

What is the cost of a Brazilian butt lift?

The price of any cosmetic surgery — including a Brazilian butt lift — depends on a number of factors. Those include the physical characteristics of each patient, such as how much fat is needed for the augmentation; the training and experience of the plastic surgeon; the geographic location of the practice; and if other fees are included. After consulting with Dr. McNemar, you are provided a detailed price quote that itemizes all costs.

How long do the results last?

Once you see the final results (a percentage of the transferred fat cells don’t survive the procedure), you can expect them to last for years. Of course, your body will continue to age and lose skin elasticity and volume. But a Brazilian butt lift is designed to be a procedure that permanently re-contours your buttocks.
