Am I a Good Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

If you’re struggling with the appearance of facial aging, it can be tough to determine exactly which facial rejuvenation option will best suit you. In general, a mini facelift is a good choice for patients who feel that they need something more than injectables but aren’t quite ready for a full facelift yet. It may be the right option for you if you’re bothered by mild or moderate laxity around your chin and jawline.

Mini facelift surgery can also help prolong the results of a facelift years after the primary surgery.

What Are the Benefits of a Mini Facelift?

Tailored to You

A mini facelift can be customized based on your preferences. For example, Dr. McNemar can adjust his surgical technique to pay special attention to a particular area, such as the jowls, and use a lighter hand elsewhere. Dermal fillers, fat injections, or other nonsurgical treatments can help accentuate the results of your mini facelift, too.

A Smaller Scar

A typical full facelift requires an incision behind the hairline and around each ear. On the other hand, the incisions required by a mini facelift are limited to the area around the ears, resulting in a smaller, more discreet scar.

A Faster Recuperation

Because a mini facelift is less invasive than a full facelift, it generally has a shorter recovery period. Some patients feel comfortable going back to office work and other similar light activities after only a few days at home. Additionally, Dr. McNemar may be able to complete your mini facelift using only local anesthesia, which will also have a positive effect on your recovery time.

Can I Combine Mini Facelift Surgery With Other Procedures?

Many people enhance the rejuvenating benefits of a mini facelift by combining it with other facial plastic surgery procedures, such as:

How Is a Mini Facelift Performed?

Depending on the degree of correction you need, Dr. McNemar may use a local anesthetic with sedation or put you completely to sleep with a general anesthetic. Once he makes the incisions around your ears, Dr. McNemar accesses the underlying tissues, lifting and tightening them to create a more youthful appearance.

Once he has evaluated the final placement and ensured that each of your concerns was addressed, he closes the incisions with sutures. After a brief period of observation in our clinic, you may return home under the care of a friend or family member.

What Is Mini Facelift Recovery Like?

Expect to take at least 5 days or so away from the office and other daily obligations. It’s important to give your body the time it needs to rest and heal.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a mini facelift last?

Results from a mini facelift last about 5 to 10 years, depending on your age and skin quality at the time of the surgery and your lifestyle after surgery (sun exposure, smoking, diet, etc.).

Is it worth it?

For an appropriate patient with realistic expectations, mini facelifts provide satisfying results that last years.

How risky is the procedure?

While a mini facelift is less involved than a full facelift, it is actual surgery that involves many of the same risks, including bleeding, infection, and nerve injury. Choosing an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. McNemar can significantly minimize your risks.

How old is too old for a mini facelift?

Age isn’t the deciding factor for a mini facelift; instead, it’s important to consider the degree of facial aging because people develop skin laxity at different ages. Dr. McNemar is experienced in various procedures and will recommend the one best suited for your needs and cosmetic goals.

Will it make me look younger?

Yes. A mini facelift helps patients with early to moderate facial aging look younger and refreshed by tightening lax skin in the lower face and jawline.
